TML Grant Writing 101 Virtual Workshop
ABOUT THE VIRTUAL WORKSHOP
This workshop contains a series of four recorded videos created for city staff who are responsible for grant applications. It provides the basic tools and training needed to prepare and successfully apply for grants. This workshop is not designed for seasoned or professional grant writers. The workshop is not approved for TMLI credit.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Marsha Kidd Guffey, Ph.D., is the Grants and Special Projects Manager for the Little Rock Port Authority, and the owner of MG Consulting where she writes grants for nonprofits, cities, and other organizations. In addition to teaching in the M.P.A. programs at Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, she was the director of community and economic development for Benton, AR, and research planner at Metroplan, the metropolitan planning organization where she got her start in urban and transportation planning and began writing grants. Her expertise is in U.S. Department of Transportation grants, landing her first TIGER grant in 2016, a Port Infrastructure Development Grant in 2021 and a CRISI (railroad grant) in 2021, but she has written and managed a variety of other grants. Guffey’s MPA is from the University of Alabama, where she was a fellow in the Southern Regional Training Program. Her PhD is from Texas Tech, where she studied Public Administration, Public Law, and Political Theory.
